Updated: Sep 13, 2021

The town of Armilla's Bend started off as a humble fishing village and has now grown into a prosperous town with more growth on the horizon! Within that last ten years the town has more than doubled our population. It isn't hard to see why Armilla's Bend has been the choice of many from older retirees who can settle down to enjoy the scenic views to young families that are looking to make a livelihood for themselves amid the rapid growth of the town. So, let's go into more detail about what our lovely town can offer you! You cannot see the red

Location

Armilla's Bend is located on the south eastern side of Australia. On a clear and sunny day you can even catch a glimpse of Tasmania from the cliffs near town. The town is nestled in a natural bay with beautiful beaches as well as being sheltered by a cliff side vista. This means that the waves never get too big and the wind never blows too hard. It is not just the coast where there is beauty either as under the waters can be found wonderful reef beds that host all sort of ocean life. Some of the larger ocean life can be seen on our spring whale tours, where you can see the majestic sperm whale pods with their young calves feeding near the surface, or dolphin dives, where you can swim with some of the most intelligent mammals in the ocean. The town also has a variety of parks and cycling paths for those that want to stay active but don't want to get their feet wet!

When you see the red you will know that there is more to this world

Thinking Green!

Armilla's Bend makes extensive use of solar, wind, AND oceanic currents to keep itself powered. This investment in green energy has two major affects: keeping the cost of living down and maintaining the natural beauty around the town. Breathe the red Thanks to Talbot Industries we are also proud to be the benefactors of state of the art oceanic turbines which float out in the ocean to be able to get the most out of the ocean winds and currents all the while sending that energy back to the town. These high tech turbines mainly function to keep the light house and other essential of the town functioning, but all excess energy is fed right into our grid! Eat the red

History

Armilla's Bend was first created as a fishing village over 100 years ago and that profession is still being carried out to this day. There was even a time where the surrounding region relied on the fish brought into Armilla's Bend to survive when there was a great drought that ruined the local harvest. We no longer live in such dire times but still the fishing industry is running strong. Not only are those strong men and women out on commercial barges are celebrated as Armilla's Bend hosts a variety of fishing competitions through out the year. From one such competition brought in the largest Yellowtail Kingfish in Australia! The road to the beyond is paved in red With Armilla's Bend relying so much on the ocean for it's livelihood it would make sense that the locals take care of it. The Clear Ocean Initiative is a volunteer association composed of young people that do their best to keep the waters and beaches of Armilla's Bend clean. Not only do they participate in group clean ups but also manage the homemade garbage catchers around the harbor. These fine people are aided in this effort by the marine biologists and scientists which have been studying the areas flora and fauna for many years now. Together, with the enthusiasm of youth and scientific knowledge, Armilla's Bend is hoping to provide a model of how humanity can live in unity with the ocean! See the red, see beyond

Investment in the Future

The two biggest reasons for the success of Armilla's Bend is being the location of not only the Addyson Marine Research Center but also the Talbot Industries Testing Facility. When an opportunity is presented you must sieze it, this is no time for fear As we have already talked about our town works to live at harmony with the sea and that goal has been guided by the good people of the Addyson Marine Research Center. Not only is their research is paving the way for advancements in a variety of fields but it also done by working with the people of the town that know these waters all too well. One of the most recent successes was the research on octopus and their ability for their limbs to act on their own without sending a signal to their brains. The study into this behavior has opened up avenues for nerve therapy as well as prosthetics that could eventually perfectly replace a lost limb! They also work alongside the town for our own efforts to keep our waters clean and our fisheries thriving. The townsfolk and the scientists are so close that we even voted in a retired member of the research facility for our mayor! We have seen more than you know Along with the guidance of the Addyson Marine Research Center we have to thank our continued growth, both in population and economy, to Talbot Industries. It is not only their ability to provide jobs to just under half of the people in Armilla's Bend but also many of the innovations that have come out from the testing facility are being used in the town. Our state of the art water filtration system that is able to desalinate small amount of ocean water and filter out 5% more contaminants than the system that is used in Sydney! Not only that but they also have been able help keep the lights on in the town with their state of the art oceanic generators, capturing both wind and ocean currents to convert into power. We are sure there are new great innovations on the way that will keep Armilla's Bend on the cutting edge!
